Research - Scientific theories and postulates - Unique Historical Stories

The topic is "Scientific theories that can be correlated to change (non-technology based)". I need 5 short (described in a paragraph each) true historical stories, about scientists who have a theory or postulate (named after them or that they contributed to) – ***and have a specific story of how they came to it or other interesting story of the theory. It needs to be directly related to how the people/action/events support the thought of difficulties of change and change is overcome and we adapt to that change. I am only looking for obscure and not commonly known events and people in history. If it is found with a general google search, it most likely will not fit what I am looking for. This will be used for an upcoming speech - the seeds of thought and ideas is what I am looking for – not a fluid paper. The tone of the resulting speech needs to be one of optimism and hope, not the despair of conflict. If accepted, I will provide you a document of topics/people that are off limits. Example of topics not allowed – no references at all to the following: • Technology • Time period • Political • Civil Rights • Religious • Military • Any natural disasters (e.g. tsunamis, hurricanes, earth quakes, fires, tornados, animal-based, insect-based, etc.) • Any man-made disasters (Hindenburg, airplane/train/ship/space/auto crashes events, • Any explorers • Any celebrities in the sense of in the common nature (actors, TV personalities, or others in the common spotlight of movies, or otherwise) • Rich people (who are always commonly known, even if you think they are not) • Any people or stories involving diseases or health issues • Anything around court cases (including judges, prosecutors, supreme court justices) • Laws, acts or formations of government (e.g. Americans with Disabilities Act, Social Security, etc.) • Space travel or space industry related • No stories of convicts or unlawful activity Again I have a list of specific people, stories, events, and phrases I have already used that I will provide if you are accepted, that are not to be used. *** I will be strict with rejecting that which does not fit into the requirements I have provided.
