Contest Brief

Someone familiar with the art styles would be preferred, but if you're a quick study, I've included details of the art styles in the document attached as well.

I need 3 designs created in a Norse style to start with. This would lead to repeat work in creating more designs for various themes, all in the Norse style and with regularity. We are looking for someone we can work with long term so this is a test for that as well.

For the contest submission, the illustration would do just fine. These images need to be supplied as vector images and as PNG images with the background cut out in the final result.

ONLY ENTER IF YOU CAN STICK TO THE TRADITIONAL NORSE STYLE WHILE BEING CREATIVE AND CAN PROVIDE THE IMAGES IN VECTOR FILES AS WELL AS THE PNG WITH CUT OUT BACKGROUND. No other styles of art will be considered such as anime, kids cartoons etc. This needs to be BLACK & WHITE and in the Norse style of artwork. Please consider all this before entering a submission

The images will go on labels of 3.5cm x 2.5cm so they don't need to be overly complicated. The bottles will be black so please consider this when making the artwork.

I have attached a file with more info as well as guidance images in terms of what we like and what we don't. The final one gives you a choice of a portrait or full body image. Bare in mind that whichever you pick, that would be the direction for following work as well (i.e. We'll be looking for some artwork we'll call Freya's Kiss later on). Price is just as an idea based on the upper end proposals we have through another site. So feel free to send me a quote of how much your entry would come to in total if you are better than the rest of the entries, we will consider your artwork before anything else.

I';m looking forward to finding the perfect freelancer who will become the supplier of all our artwork. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Just an update that I will be discussing the entries tonight with the other half of SkullVikings and will give proper feedback to every single entry still in. Thank you all for your submissions so far. As there are quite a few designs I like, please note that we may make an offer to more than 1 entry to purchase the design on top of the competition winner.

Just a reminder, these will be printed fairly small (3.5cm x 2.5cm approx). The designs do not have to be overly complex. Also, the bottles the labels are for are completely black. Please review the first page of the PDF showing examples of how such label artworks have been made for similar products

No, they will be the artwork for 30ml bottles as mentioned in the PDF so will be printed quite small. centimeters not inches so the artwork does not need to be overly complex. Just to represent the subjects in the relevant artwork style without being over the top complicated.

but you'll attract lots of high quality work from the start if you have a appealing budget.

I have already said that if the right artwork comes along with a higher price, I will consider it even if it is over this budget. What I don't want to do is guarantee I will pay a high amount and won't find satisfactory artwork but still have to pay that despite not being happy with the end result. What most people seem to be missing is that this artwork will be on the label of some bottles so it doesn't need to be over the top complex, just to cover the subjects in the relevant art style. Very high detail won't show up very well when printed at about 3.5 cm x 2.5cm plus the prize was based on the average price quoted on the job post I listed separately. I will not increase the prize, however I will consider paying more than the prize stated for the right artwork. I hope this clears things up for you.

I have not picked a winner. I am looking for relevant submissions, which you have not yet provided. I am not sure you understand the brief since you submitted something generic and a copy of an existing product available on the market. None of which are subjects detailed in my brief

the difference between 8 and 22: entry 8 is an original representation of Baldur which is something I need whereas 22 is a representation of Odin which is not a subject needed, furthermore it is a rip off of an already existing product https://viking-workshop.com/viking-jewelry-main/odin-allfather-with-huginn-and-muninn-sterling-silver-viking-pendant/ and I am looking for something original, not copied that stays within the scope of the 3 subjects in this project: Howling wind, Baldur's Lure and Yggdrasil's dew.

cool competition but it's a lot of work for £100, especially if you want three complex designs.

#increaseprize for three submissions of quality dude. x

A little bit presumptuous to think I'm a guy. I'm not. Doesn't matter though. If you read the description, I also say I will consider other pricing.

I'm very interested in this project. Viking culture is amazing, and their art is really appealing. I will start working on an entry right away.

(Sorry. I didn't realise pressing enter would post the comment instead of allowing another line.) We do feel like this isn't very closely relatable to any of the Viking art styles. For example the Urnes style has animals interlacing and looping, with long eyes pointed forward and how the various sections entertwine. Let me know if you have any questions. We think this is a great start

I understand, thank you for the quick reply! I will create a new entry closer in style to the actual nordic examples, then. In this entry I went with something more akin to tattoos. I will submit another entry as soon as possible.
      Thank you for your time.
