Modern logo for firm of solicitors (lawyers)

Contest Brief

Logo needed for a small, very established firm of lawyers. The firm is located in Surrey, United Kingdom (near London but mixture of urban, rural and suburbs). Our main work: divorce, probate (finances after death), employment law, property law.

LETTERMARK LOGOS (AKG) WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

USE: website, letterhead, business cards.

CREATIVITY: must be:-- eye-catching, beautiful, simple- imply values like trust, confidence and care- have a clean and modern look.- colours - your choice.

MUST BE: Pictorial or abstract logo, with name included. Concepts: trust, approachable, local, creative legal solutions.

IMAGERY:

For 'clipping mask' effect, look for a tutorial in a search engine; the effect is quite useful to learn.

Optional: the light means we generate creative legal solutions for you.

Meaning: the hands coming towards a handshake means we are 'approachable', good to do business with, meaningful, we care; the spiral ribbons are for effect.

FORMAT: vector graphics, and Photoshop or Illustrator file. NOTES: Most important thing is be creative with the concept; happy to pay extra to tidy up/polish up the design later.

Logo will be used primarily for our new website plus must be suitable for print use - letterhead (company paper) and business cards. Our tagline is something like “your trusted local solicitor”.

I am more interested in the concept than the finessed finer details. Don’t worry; I am happy to work further with you on your winning design, and pay you extra to polish it up.

This is project 1 of 3 or 4; after this, I will be selecting designers (perhaps you) for projects including: website mockups, page templates and website build.

I am looking for a logo that is more 'pictorial', or 'pictorial/combination' which includes the picture and name, or 'abstract'. Examples of this include Shell the oil company (shell), BP oil company (green yellow 'flower' shape), World Wildlife Fund (the panda), Nike (tick), Twitter (blue bird).
Also, the new website is likely to have a white (not dark) background.

Hello designers. Thank you, for all your work so far. LESS emphasis on initials (AK or AKG), please. Try some different elements/imagery/geometric shapes even .. anything to evolve this into a conceptually more innovative logo.

Hello to all designers. Please, do not over-emphasise the 'A K' part of the name. Please, try more to conceptualise on the whole brand which includes the name as a whole ... not just the 'A K' part. Many thanks, indeed.
