Contest Brief

Hello!

I need a one-page, PSD website mockup for voyva.com

The website will only consist of two pages at launch, and the winning freelancer will be awarded $50 project to design the second page. Hopefully that one shouldn't be much more work, as the overall design will have been agreed on, and the requirements are a lot more specific for that page. The first page is the priority though, so I only want to focus on that at this stage.

This is only for a mockup, so the web page doesn't need any functionality at this stage, I'm just trying to get the overall look of the site sorted. However, it would be handy of you have at least a basic understanding of how websites work so the files are provided at the right resolution, are based on best practice and don't contain anything that isn't really possible to include in a website... if that makes sense?!

I've attached the logo for the site. Please keep in mind that the colour of the logo is optional... if you want to go with something in colour then blue would be good, but I'm open to just a one colour logo (maybe white) or a stencil type look, like in the "Stencil Inner Shadow" image I've also attached. It's up to you though, whatever you feel would work well.

It's a travel website where you choose the following on the home page...

1. Where are you travelling to?
2. Where are travelling from?
3. Which month are you travelling?

The visitor will enter those details and then click on a 'Next' or 'Go' or 'Continue' button. How they enter those details is up to you... could be a drop down menu, more of a search bar or whatever else could be used. Please include a menu bar along the top, although that will be something to develop over time (forums, contact, FAQ, About etc)... the site won't have one to start with.

When they press go/next/continue, they are presented with details on the country they are going to. Not hotels and flights... this isn't a booking site, it's a site where business people or young professionals or people on a last minute trip can go to get all the info they need quickly and all in one place. Currency, avg temperatures, can they drink, do they need a visa, type of plug they need, should they pack shorts or jumpers etc etc. Think 'travel' over 'holiday' or 'vacation'. It's not about images of pristine beaches and swimming pools.

The whole key to the site is meant to be simplicity... so ideally I'd like a visual style that is clean, simple, stylish, uncluttered and modern. So it will just contain the menu bar at the top, the logo, the three search criteria and the go/next/continue button. Apart from that, there will be a small amount of text to explain what the site is and how it works. I'm still working on that text, but please add a text section with 100 words of 'lorum ipsum' and I'll change that on the final PSD. It will all be contained on one page, with no scrolling.

If you go for something colourful then try not to use too many colours, definitely nothing garish. You could maybe go with the airplane/travel theme with some clouds and a blue background or something, but that's more of an idea/suggestion than a specific requirement. Surprise me!

“Short-notice trip? Hardly enough time to pack, much less to research your destination? Voyva is here to help! Just answer the three questions above and click ‘Continue’. That’s all we need to generate a country-specific cheat sheet, customized for your trip. Print out your results and you’re good to go!
The results page is designed to be saved or printed out. Use it as a handy reference and guide for the essential information: things like time zones, clothing requirements, primary language, currency exchange, visa requirements and much more. Some of these you’ll have considered, but some might surprise you!
We’ve designed Voyva to be lean and mean. Our executive summary format gives you what you need to know without the junk. Answer the questions above and see for yourself what our free virtual travel assistant can do.

From 'short notice trip?' to 'good to go' is the main headline text, so that should be going in your blue balls or be larger text or highlighted etc. Everything else is secondary.

Thanks for all your entries guys. All the four star entries are really good and very close to the kind of thing I had in mind. I think what I'm going to do is choose my three favourite ones, reject the rest (or make them one star) and then give final feedback on those three and choose the winner from them.

Obviously, the contest is still open for a few days, so you're welcome to submit more entries... but it's likely I'll be choosing from the three, unless there's a new design that's mind blowing! Thanks!

    Here you go...

    http://imageshack.com/a/img30/1606/vbqf.jpg

It's clean, simple, uncluttered. Obviously there's stuff missing... but all it needs now is a menu at the top, the three options in the middle, a bit of text underneath and then maybe some social media icons bottom right or bottom left etc. Could maybe have the menu items written on small cartoon clouds or something. This is just an idea of the style though, doesn't need to be exactly like that. I bought it here in case you're wondering.

You mean like you did! you took the CH own design and added a form to it hardley original. in all fairness when CH posted the back drop and logo, designs were only ever going to go in that direction. TBH i dont quite see why CH bothered

There shouldn't be any images of destinations or resorts or tropical beaches etc. A plane, maybe, but the current ones are a bit overpowering. Give me a minute and I'll whip up some kind of mockup of the kind of style I'm envisaging.

Far too much going on in 8. 9 is better... no need for the images at the bottom though and the plane image is maybe a bit overpowering. Thanks!

Maybe I should have been clearer, sorry... it's not a booking site. Expedia have got that covered! The results are basically a printable list of everything you might need to know if you've got a last minute trip to that country, and need to get all the info you need in one place... without having to trawl through pages and pages of different websites.

So things like currency, timezone, avg temperature for the month, whether you need a visa or not, avg flight time, can you drink alcohol in that country, what type of plug will you need, duty free allowances etc. It's like a one-stop cheat sheet for any given country. Say work are sending you to Thailand on business the next day... you want to focus on packing, making sure your dog is looked after and your bills are paid while you're away.... not wade through different sites looking for info.

So no need for exact date boxes, results pages, categories, recommended trips, featured hotels etc etc. Sorry for not making it clearer.

    Thanks!

Can't really give you a reference site, as I don't really know what I want, unfortunately. That's why I'm posting a contest! If I knew exactly what I wanted then I'd make it myself! However, if you took the current entries and made them a bit closer to looking like Google.com, then you'd be on the right lines. Not specifically Google itself, but the simplicity and minimal design of it. I hadn't really considered a photo for the site, but that could work. It's mainly targeted at business people and young professionals... they might not necessarily be going to a beach destination. Think 'travel' rather than 'holiday'. Thanks!
