Contest Brief

Hi guys! I need you to create a digital illustration of an owl that is called Owlbert Einstein.

I would love to see and pay for your original take in this competition.

THE CHARACTER
* He'll need to be an owl with Einstein-like characteristics.
* He is going to be a mascot, so I'd like to feel some charisma.
* I would like him to look friendly/playful/approachable. To make that a bit clearer, the colors and character in this illustration is good, except that he's not very Einstein-like: http://ideas.discover.earth/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Owlbert-Einstein-626x1024.png.
* The watercolor or colored pencil style is suggested over a cartoon style approach, as its imperfections tend to add the uniqueness and character that I am looking for. But not compulsory.
* Also, if the character is carrying something like books or papers, it seems to help build a sense of personality.

He's going to be the mascot of a website that I have made and will be put into the sidebar here: http://www.ideas.discover.earth.

I'll need the final product in a PNG file, with a transparent background.

(2) I created a Photoshop file where I've placed a low-resolution version of the submissions into a screenshot of my website, just to see what they will look like. I have uploaded this file as it may help you to optimise your submissions to the website context.

    Hi Ben.
    I would love to participate in your contest, but I have some questions.
    1- What is the size you need for the illustration
    2- What are the colors you want to add to the owl
    3- Do you want the same style as in the example image, as a children's drawing, not very technical? or can it be done with another style?

      1. Apologies for not providing this initially. 2000x2000 px would be great. If you've already started then don't worry, what you have will be fine.
      2. Purple and blue fit the colour schemes of my website, but are not compulsory.
      3. My preference was for a watercolour style, but there have been many submissions that are very high quality that are not watercolour. The most important thing is for the owl to have charisma and personality and to give off a good vibe, as it is for a mascot.

    Hey all,

    Many of these submissions are very good, and what will end up being a deciding factor in choosing a winner is how well they 'fit' with my website.

    This is hard to judge, so I created a Photoshop file where I've placed a low-resolution version of the submissions into a screenshot of the website, so that I can see how well they fit with context.
