Contest Brief

A logo for a website called "Disaster Missions". The purpose of this site is to help train and coordinate teams of volunteers to respond to disaster situations around the world.

The logo should incorporate the text "disaster missions" and/or the URL www.disastermissions.org (uppercase, lowercase or mixed case) and a graphical content incorporating one or more of the following themes or similar:

- map (local, regional or worldwide), world globe, cityscape, etc.
- items that represent disaster assistance such as road cones, hazard tape, hard hats, stretchers, first aid symbols or kits, etc (NOT utilizing proprietary symbols such as Red Cross/Red Crescent, FEMA, Civil Defense, CERT, USAR, Star of Life, etc.)
- silhouettes or images of rescue teams, first aid posts, etc. Check out my Portuguese language CERT team site, especially the Blog section, for photos that could be used or copied and for similar logos (CERT, CERT Brasil) at http://www.certbrasil.org/blog (click on the "LEIA MAIS" (Read More) buttons on the blog entries to see the photo galleries).
- graphics or symbols representing natural disasters such as tsunamis, floods, earthquakes, wildfires, etc (not conflicts or situations of violence)
- anything else that could represent disaster preparedness, response and/or recovery

Ideally the logo will be rectangular (horizontally) with a full-color version and the ability to print in grey-scale/black-and-white.

There are some entries coming in.

Just a couple of ideas....

Instead of an ambulance stretcher, I was thinking of a rescue stretcher (back board), like this: http://www.americanlifeguard.net/Images/US-3071C_Kit.jpg

Also, instead of a camping tent, maybe something bigger like this would work: http://last.mastertent.com/media/rescue-firebrigade.jpg

I'm still looking for the perfect layout/combination but things are getting there!

  Check my history on freelancer - I've purchased two logos in the past.
  
  To be honest, with a couple of exceptions, I've found most of the entries to be very disappointing: merely text entries that anyone could make in Publisher without any attention paid to the requirements.

  I will most probably award the project to one of the contestants as I have only posted it on freelancer (nowhere else on the internet) and need a logo for my site!
  
  However, I chose not to make it guaranteed as I am really looking for a high quality product, not just a generic text-based logo.
