Contest Brief

We're preparing a new website for our game so we're looking for some fresh ideas from designers worldwide. Give us something that's new and unique, there's no restrictions to the design and layout. The more detail the better, the more time spent on the project the more likely we'll find it appealing. The trick here is to impress a group of nostalgic game enthusiasts, demographic is male, between ages 20-35.

VERY IMPORTANT!

For this contest you will be required to submit a design for the homepage only and the other pages will be commissioned later. We will design an entire website but we are looking for someone talented that can impress us with a mock up for the homepage first. We will then proceed to work with the designer and complete the entire project based on the theme submitted.

Here are the rules:

0) You may use our current website for information: http://www.playinera.com
0) DO NOT blatantly copy and redesign our current website. We'll fail you.
0) DO NOT recycle some generic theme. This must be a custom new design.

1) You must use our mascot. You can use the image that's attached to this contest.

2) You must use our logo and you can download the logo pack and psd attached.

3) You must have a section for latest posts, client updates, and server updates.
4) You must have a full-width slider, visible upon landing on page.
5) Full-Width website preferred, you can risk other variations if confident.
6) Blog / News post must be present to inform players of latest info.
7) A vote reward must exist. It must be visible upon landing on website.
8) A login/game server status must exist.
9) Color scheme must contain our shade of red, keep it clean.

Have fun with this project! We're a great team and like to explore new ideas and edgy content when it comes to web design. Don't be afraid to push your limits. Aside from these guidelines, there are no limitations to the style of the elements, the overall layout, etc. Be creative. We're looking for something unique that will leave us speechless.

VERY IMPORTANT!

We're always looking to keep a full-time designer on retainer. If you can show us a masterpiece we'll prioritize your skills. A lot of freelancers have continued working with us. When a project comes up, we typically contact previous clients first out of respect for their work. So don't hesitate to enter this contest as we will always have design work to be completed and it's always a fun project that will test your spirit.

Exactly, unfortuntately I was preparing something and wasted my time since they closed the contest before time. But it is sure even worse for those who were actually taking feedback from the client and working hard trying to meet requirements and design specifications. What a mockery, what a waste of time. Hope Freelancer makes something about it, I reported it.

Quick Update:

1) Do not copy our website, we're not looking for a redesign, we're looking for something new.
2) Do not recycle blog themes and try to pass it off as custom gamer themes.
3) If you are not using Photoshop to design elements, do not enter this contest, artistry a must.
4) Get creative, stop using our elements for our current website, show us something different.

Today's submissions did not fare well. Pretend you're launching a video game, then ask yourself:

"What would my website look like to impress the players?"

Then submit that design.

  Oddly enough I just unpacked it fine without any problems. I don't know why you're getting an error. Redownload the file from the guidelines and see if you're getting the same error. This problem was fixed a while back.

Okay so we had to spend a lot of time today addressing all the submissions. Thus far two artists have caught our eye, we have given very detailed feedback on the layout, design, and creativity aspects for all submissions. I'm going to remind everyone that creating a website for a game server is hardly easy; it requires patience and tremendous creativity. You will not nail it the first time, ever, because you have no guidance on the game itself or how to approach it, many of you became blinded by our own website and simply copied it. So what advice can I give to future submissions?

Give us something modern and clean with an aesthetic beauty to it focused on the mascot to which we've attached in the contest rules. Make our logo shine and pretend like INERA is your game server, how would you attract players to it? Make a plan, jot some notes, and begin your design process. Design comes from the heart, as a passion.
